The inaugural TVM Talks event, held on July 13 at Balter, was a huge success filled with insight into the business world. Businesswomen, creatives and aspiring entrepreneurs gathered for a night of tunes, Mexican food, good vibes and insightful conversation on how to form a strong foundation for a successful business.
Journalist Amy Mills led the stellar panel which included home-grown TVM success stories, F+H Jewellery founder Sharona Harris, Sweet Child of Mine’s Kendra Miller-Sherley and Molly & Polly’s Kirsten Beck. These three women openly shared the highs and lows of their business journeys, offered valuable tips for anyone wanting to take the entrepreneurial leap of faith and start their own business and were also quick to express their gratitude towards TVM, who have provided them – and hundreds of other businesses - with a platform to sell their products, interact with customers and become part of a creative and supportive community.
The night was filled with one last surprise when TVM co-founders, Marissa Bowden and Sarah Schoeller, announced the release of their first eBook, How to Launch Your Startup.
The two hardworking and passionate mothers have created an amazing guide in an effort to provide new business owners with “the things we wished we’d known when starting out.” With an array of handful hints, tips and advice, the new eBook is a business owner’s dream come true.
Despite my lack of knowledge on the world of business, I can honestly say that I came away from the night with a greater understanding and an array of tips that will also help propel me in my journalism studies. I truly look forward to the next TVM talks.
