Another fantastic day at The Village Markets saw a wonderful array of emerging designers, jumble sales and accessories and homewares to boot! Although the wind did play a bit of havoc, stall holders and customers alike were not put off and came out in force. Once again, I went exploring through TVM to discover new and exciting items that caught my eye. Although it was hard to narrow down, here are my five favourite finds for the day!
1. lola & maree
Since starting my internship I have continuously visited the lola & maree stall. With beautiful, feminine silhouettes and an eye for detail, Lauren hand-makes all of her amazing garments. Prided on her unique and one-off designs, each piece is made from either vintage or recycled materials.
Available in a range of colours, from cute floral prints to bright block colours and colourful stripes, the new ‘lulu’ dress is a must have! Made from vintage silk chiffon fabric and lace, this lightweight fabric is perfect for the hot summer days ahead. Priced at $45, these one-off creations are an absolute steal. Grab one soon before they run out!
2. Neverland
The cute, whimsical designs at Neverland look like they are straight out of a fairytale. Feminine dresses that are right on trend, yet unique as well? Yes please! At the moment I am loving the range of patchwork dresses which feature a collection of patchwork circles on the bodice and a ruffle hem.
Although they come in a variety of colours, this one particularly caught my eye due to the colours and the soft fabric flowing in the breeze. (As you can see the dress didn’t want to stay still for the photo!) All of the designs are hand-made and the circle patchwork is made from a variety of vintage fabrics. Priced at $60, you can have your own piece of Neverland and you’ll feel like you’ve just emerged from the rabbit hole!
3. Jane Orman Designs
It was Jane Orman Designs first time at TVM and she definitely didn’t disappoint. All the way up from Tamworth, Jane brought her talented creations to the Gold Coast to add a bit of sophistication to the day. All of her works of art are oil paintings and Jane bases her muse around the modern woman. With an edgy yet feminine feel about them, they would transform or create a focal point in your favourite room.
I especially loved the beautiful painting of this woman (I wish my student budget enabled me to buy this artwork!) Jane also has a range of tops and accessories at her stall to satisfy the savviest of market shoppers. I saw that a few lucky TVM shoppers took home some of her incredible designs. Hope they look great in your homes!
4. Attic Collection
Walk into Attic’s stall and you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. From antique hair brushes to unique ornaments and jewellery, this stall has everything for the vintage collector. Most of the stock dates back to the 1960s and 1970s and each piece has a history. This makes it that little more special knowing that you have bought an item which was loved by someone else.
It was extremely hard to choose just one item! In the end I couldn’t, so I ended up going with a theme. These gorgeously cute deer’s were reminiscent of my childhood with cute Disney character references to Bambi (oh how I loved that movie!). These ornaments range from $10-$15, with the rest of the stall also being reasonably priced. I even bought one of the deer’s and it is now sitting proudly on my bookshelf!
5. Faith Designs
With the sunshine reflecting off the crystal stones and the gorgeous colours glittering away, you can’t help but immediately be drawn into the stall. (I have always loved crystal stones, maybe this has something to do with my name!) With a range of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, there is jewellery to suit every woman.
I was immediately drawn to the new Agate Cuffs. With a range of beautiful colours to choose from, agate slices are clasped onto these funky looking cuffs (perfect statement pieces anyone?!). Available on either plain or calligraphy inspired cuffs, in both gold and silver. All pieces are reasonably priced with the Agate Cuffs priced at $15.
