Listening, Learning & Educating Ourselves

Jun 5, 2020 | I Heart TVM

At The Village Markets, we firmly stand beside the fight against racial injustice.

We aim to continue to educate ourselves and aim to be better people, better mothers, a better business and create a better community.

Personally and as small business owners, here are some of the things we have started doing this week:

We will be reviewing a reconciliation plan, using this online platform, aiming to amplify the voices of indigenous creatives and by backing their small businesses.

We’re donating to the families of two Indigenous Australians who have died in police custody.

Tanya Day, here.

We're signing to support the Uluru Statement, to join all Commonwealth nations in having a treaty with our indigenous people.

Information about a local protest for this Saturday is listed, here.

We have listened to this podcast episode of One Wild Ride Podcast with Delta Kay, here.

A list of documentaries to watch, are listed here.

And books to read, here.

For parents, 18 Children's Books with characters of colour are listed, here.

We will continue to learn and be a part of the change.

In love and solidarity,

Marissa and Sarah
