It's no secret we're big advocates for reducing our waste, in fact our goal is to become a Zero Waste event. We spent our market afternoon with Climate Wave on Sunday 21 April, learning more about where our waste goes post event and what we can do to continue to reduce our waste and care for our environment.
If you've been to TVM, you've most likely met Murray who sorts our waste and helps you to understand which bin your waste goes in. Environmental Engineering student, Murray is an integral part of our events ensuring all of our waste is disposed of responsibly, and then takes our waste to different locations for composting and recycling.
Our compostable waste is taken to the Southern Beaches Community Garden in Tugun, where Murray and the Climate Wave team begin the composting process. Murray then takes the recyclables to the waste station in Currumbin where we donate all proceeds to the Surfrider Foundation to care for our beaches.
If you have any questions or suggestions about our processes, let us know here.
See you at the markets.
