Meet Priscila Gonzalez, founder of Salty Soul Surfwear and find her this Sunday 17 December at TVM.
Tell us about how and when your label was created?
I am a graphic Designer and I always dreamed about becoming my own boss. I love the ocean and I love swimwear. I am also very passionate about our beautiful planet, I am always willing to do something to help the environment and I never really found a brand that makes ethical, comfortable, good quality swimwear that I love... So I decided to create my own.
What pieces are included within your range?
We have bikinis, one piece, long sleeve surf suit and cropped vest. From size 6 to 10, for all the ocean lovers out there.
What is your creative background?
I Studied Graphic design back in 2009. Finished in 2011. Since then, I have been working in offices doing magazine and advertising designs. Not really what I loved to do but it paid the bills for a while. I used to do some freelancing just so I would be a bit closer to what I really loved to do. In 2014 I decided to pursuit my dream and started drawing a swimwear collection and some prints. I fell in love with the whole idea and decided to create Salty Soul Surfwear.
Where is the label designed and made?
The label is designed here in Australia and made in Indonesia
I traveled to Indonesia once I had all my designs and prints ready so I could find a place to produce the bikinis. I tried to keep it local but my budget was really small. So I found a family owned business over there and met everyone involved with my bikinis. I think it’s important for every business owner to know exactly what the work conditions are when manufacturing products overseas.

What can we expect from the next collection/what are your plans for 2013 and beyond?
We want to expand our range to make some spring suit neoprene next year. All sustainable, without costing the earth.
Also getting involved with more projects to help the environment.
I’m not sure if I mentioned but we have partnered with Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund and are going to plant 1 tree for every product sold.
