Meet sisters, earth warriors and founders of Zero Waste Earth Sisters, Zoe and Jasmine.

What made your pursue your creative passion?

We found it was difficult to find affordable products that were supplied by a company who held the same values as us. Earth Sisters was ignited through a combination of Zoe's entrepreneurial attitude and Jasmine's immense passion and drive.

When did you take the plunge and start your own business?

We started designing, planning and creating about 6 months ago! On the 15th September we launched our website and on the 16th of September we held our very own stall at TVM! We couldn't be more honoured.

What does your brand consist of?

We sell zero waste products that promote the methods of reducing, reusing and recycling! Think beeswax wraps, reusable material snack bags, produce/bread bags, bamboo cutlery and much more. We are more than our products page, we are a community hoping to provide people with the power, knowledge and tools to make sustainable choices and reduce their waste.

Where is the label designed and made?

Our products are sourced locally and internationally. We love that all of our products have a story. For example our bags are made in a small country town, near where we grew up, by people with disabilities. By using this small business we are providing disabled people with a fair paying job and safe working conditions.

What inspires you?

Our enormous passion for the environment! I truely believe the quote "be the change you want to see in the world".

What are your plans for the brand and where do you hope it takes you?

Our plans are to spread our message far and wide! We hope to inspire people to make small changes that make will add up to make huge differences. We would love to travel and teach courses, speak on behalf of the earth and create a #newnormal!

What were the biggest challenges when launching your brand?

A lot of things to be honest! We are just two small town gals that had an idea and went all in! We didn't have any experience in business, web design, marketing etc., however that didn't matter to us. We are both extremely hard workers and we took something our Dad used to say into our stride, there is no such things as challenges, just new approaches.

What is the best thing about having your own business?

Being able to work on my laptop while soaking up some vitamin D!

Connect with Zero Waste Earth Sisters, here and find them at TVM this Sunday 21 October 2018.

New to TVM this Sunday 19 August is Madeline Butel with her label Maple Organic Wear. Read on to find out more about this passionate young entrepreneur.

Prior to beginning Maple Organic Wear, I worked in many industries incorporating fashion and intern - consumerism. Through working within the industry, I realised how corrupt the fashion industry can be in terms of pollution and waste. This led me to creating a brand based around the moral fibre of garments and their production/time on this earth, not their quick turn around and the profit margin generated.

What made your pursue your creative passion?

My love for nature and our world led me to pursue the ideal of an entirely cruelty free clothing brand with everything I have.

What does your brand consist of?

Maple's current range, Amore, incorporates five different minimalistic yet flattering garments.

Where is the label designed and made?

Everything is designed on the Sunshine Coast, QLD by myself. Every garment in the Amor range has been made locally on the Coast by an incredibly talented Seamstress and manufacturer.

What inspires you?

Literary waking up in the morning inspires me. I am very much in love with all aspects of this world and it's magic and want to make it my mission to help protect it in every way I can!

In terms of my design inspiration - my recent travels have inspired a lot of my new work in terms of creating things that make woman feel empowered and beautiful on the inside and out and combining different cultures, colours and climates.

Alongside this, I am inspired to give younger target markets the opportunity to buy clothing within their style niche that's healthy for themselves and the environment.

What are your plans for the brand and where do you hope it takes you?

My ultimate plan for Maple is to give back in every way I can. I endeavour to generate an income throughout sales in which allows me to begin my own charity work in as many countries as I possibly can.

I wish to educate generations and cultures on the importance of protecting our world and our animals. I also aim to teach families and villages sustainability and horticultural knowledge so they can sustain themselves and their families.

Alongside this, I want to begin workshops and organisations which help empower people with purpose and go against the tide of conventional brands who aim at making girls in particular feel like they 'need' to fit a certain beauty standard and they can only do this through certain clothing.

I want my clothing to ooze positivity and self love and most of all conscious living and teach generations about this along the way.

What were the biggest challenges when launching your brand?

The biggest challenges so far have been learning! I started Maple with no prior knowledge to the industry so have had to take every step slowly and source from industry professionals as much as I can. Being only 19, this isn't an easy thing to do! I often feel judged, questioned and somewhat degraded for wanting to create something so huge, so young.

Although this has been challenging, it has been integral in me questioning myself daily and not blindly creating something that could one day fall. It's also been my main motivation to keep going!

What is the best thing about having your own business?

Freedom! Doing something I believe in and LOVE. Not conforming to the mundane ritual of a 9-5 job.

I love being free, creating, meeting like minded people and never knowing what's to come next.

Meet Priscila Gonzalez, founder of Salty Soul Surfwear and find her this Sunday 17 December at TVM.

Tell us about how and when your label was created?

I am a graphic Designer and I always dreamed about becoming my own boss. I love the ocean and I love swimwear. I am also very passionate about our beautiful planet, I am always willing to do something to help the environment and I never really found a brand that makes ethical, comfortable, good quality swimwear that I love... So I decided to create my own.

What pieces are included within your range?

We have bikinis, one piece, long sleeve surf suit and cropped vest. From size 6 to 10, for all the ocean lovers out there.

What is your creative background?

I Studied Graphic design back in 2009. Finished in 2011. Since then, I have been working in offices doing magazine and advertising designs. Not really what I loved to do but it paid the bills for a while.  I used to do some freelancing just so I would be a bit closer to what I really loved to do. In 2014 I decided to pursuit my dream and started drawing a swimwear collection and some prints. I fell in love with the whole idea and decided to create Salty Soul Surfwear.

Where is the label designed and made?

The label is designed here in Australia and made in Indonesia

I traveled to Indonesia once I had all my designs and prints ready so I could find a place to produce the bikinis. I tried to keep it local but my budget was really small. So I found a family owned business over there and met everyone involved with my bikinis. I think it’s important for every business owner to know exactly what the work conditions are when manufacturing products overseas.

What inspires you?

Surfing. The Ocean inspires me.

Latest collection consists of?

Mimpi Collection is our very first collection and it’s all about pursuing your own dreams.

What's on your mood board?

Lots of perfect waves in a clear water, paradise island.

What music do you listen to while designing/creating?

Bob Marley. He inspires me anywhere, anytime.

A day in the life of you consists of?

Eat, Surf, Create, Surf, Sleep. And a few other things in between haha

Favourite TVM stall (besides yours of course)?

Dusty Child. They have some super cute clothes for kids.

Favourite reads/blogs?

Travel Books. I love to travel. 😉

What can we expect from the next collection/what are your plans for 2013 and beyond?

We want to expand our range to make some spring suit neoprene next year. All sustainable, without costing the earth.

Also getting involved with more projects to help the environment.

I’m not sure if I mentioned but we have partnered with Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund and are going to plant 1 tree for every product sold.

Why TVM?

I Just love the incentive that TVM gives to brand new local businesses. Love to see the community helping each other out. I went to the last 2 markets and the vibe was just amazing! You guys rock!

What do you love most about attending TVM?

I love the friendly vibe, the live music and the yum food!
