Meet Jessica Sarah
Spending her childhood training for 20 plus hours a week for gymnastics, Jessica reached the pinnacle of her sport and represented Australia. It wasn’t until Jessica turned sixteen that she started playing music, and just six months of learning guitar Jessica began song writing and fell in love with the idea of creating and singing her own songs.
With the help of her music teacher Jessica recorded six original songs at the beginning of 2013, which got the attention of ABC’s national youth radio station, Triple J. After receiving airplay on Triple J and also an on air interview by Rosie Beaton, Jessica was offered to have her songs placed in the ABC library, available for the use of secondary school students in their film projects.
Jessica was recently heard rehearsing for an open mic session at the Woodford Folk Festival by Darren Percival as he walked past. Darren liked what he heard and invited Jessica to play with him at the Pineapple lounge in front of a packed house at the Festival.
After completing high school, the talented singer/songwriter has been fielding offers from international signed acts to write lyrics and melodies for their songs. Jessica has gone from representing Australia on the world stage of gymnastics to the world stage of music.
Jessica has just returned from LA writing songs with Todd Morse (THE OFFSPRING) Kemble Walters (JULIETTE LEWIS) Chris Cheney (THE LIVING END) and Jessy Greene (FOO FIGHTERS). Jessica’s love for performing and song writing has inspired her to pursue a career in music. If her commitment to gymnastics meant anything, her passion and commitment for music should see her reach the same national recognition as she did in sport. Jessica’s debut EP "Wooden Seas" is available on iTunes. I’ve Made It Here film clip which was filmed, produced and edited by Jessica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgQMOM_Orhw Jessica played the main stage at the Caxton Street Seafood Festival Brisbane in June.
Meet Kate Bergman
Australian born folk artist She captures the hearts of her listeners with honesty and innocence. A true storyteller and a testament to the world of songwriting; at 21 years of age, She offers up the fine art of journey through lyric & melody.
The Gold Coast chanteuse has gained a solid following for her pure tones & honest lyrics and will release her self-titled debut EP this year (2013).
The 21-year-old multi-instrumentalist began training as a classical cellist from age seven but her musical path was rerouted when at 15 she was given a guitar and fell in love.
Lyrically, She draws inspiration from an eclectic range of artists including Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, & Jose Gonzales.
Since those early days, She has penned close to 100 songs and has whittled down her favourites into much-anticipated 5-track EP. Her first release features songs told with innocence & raw honesty that would happily share in an indie-folk campfire sing-along with Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko & Paul Kelly.
The most personal songs include moments of melancholy infused with a sense of fragility and the quirk of a smile told through melody & lyrics, light & shade, heartbreak & hope.
Experience She live as she performs around south-east Queensland.
Ellie May
The always smiling Ellie May is a joy to have at TVM and we're looking forward to her return this weekend.
