The Village Markets will celebrate 15 years of creativity, collaboration and good times on Sunday 1st October - and we're throwing a party!
Along with our usual incredible boutique market stall lineup we'll have some of our most-loved favourites return to TVM, enjoy street eats, live tunes by Lily Budiasa and In The Flowers, and pre-loved designer Rack Sales, you can enjoy creative workshops by The Craft Parlour, a Zero Waste pop-up by Climate Wave and more.
We're excited to also introduce a 'Mini-Makers Market' run by Kids to the lineup at this special event. Where young entrepreneurs can get their start understanding what it's like to run their small business at The Village Markets. Kids aged 6-13 with their own small business (no matter how small). The history of TVM
The Village Markets has been an iconic part of the Gold Coast's cultural scene since we launched with our very first market day in October 2008, with a humble 9 stalls! At the time, we put the word out to local creatives via the only social media platform at the time - MySpace, we created a marketing plan based on what our founders Marissa and Sarah felt was lacking on the Gold Coast and using their marketing backgrounds. Arts and culture was nowhere to be seen, there were no vintage shops to rummage, no interesting local boutiques to stroll and certainly no creative meeting places to meet with friends of a weekend - and so, The Village Markets was born.
Fast forward 15 fun-filled (but challenging - hello red tape, hello global pandemic) years and thousands of small businesses have launched through this platform and been able to follow their dreams, hundreds of musicians have been able to kick off their careers and visitors and locals have gathered, time and time again to celebrate our unique cultural icon in Burleigh Heads.
Not just a market by any means, TVM has been so much more than that. It's a community, a meeting place - friendships have been formed, businesses have collaborated, stockists have discovered beautiful new businesses, magazines and media have given our community of creatives publicity and opportunities to further grow their brands.
Brands such as Kivari, peony, Business and Pleasure, Cleopatras Bling, Lokoa, Mahiya, Mr Consistent, Sacred Bundle, Frankly My Dear, Olas Supply Co and many more, started out at TVM, as well as Tones and I and Ziggy Alberts.
We have adapted and grown, we've run Instagram markets when the world shut down, we created a Virtual Village so that small businesses can be found outside of market day via our platform, we introduced a Zero Waste goal - reducing our event landfill by over 94% and offer kind market goods such as re-useable bottles, coffee cups and tote bags for market days, we sell merchandise in the form of our stylish Village Goods and we showcase our brands via our popular digital offerings.
TVM has won numerous awards and continues to bring the good vibes.
Join us as we celebrate 15 glorious years on Sunday 1 October!
