Did you know that all food vendors at TVM use compostable packaging, cutlery and cups?
We've been working towards becoming a zero waste event for sometime now and it's been a while between updates, so we thought we'd bring you up to speed with where we are at so far in 2022!
We had our busiest market so far this year on Sunday 20 February and still managed to divert 94.3% of waste from landfill.
During each event Mark and the incredibly dedicated team at Climate Wave sort our waste onsite into bins including landfill, recyclables, organic and compostable.
Last Sunday 82kg of organic waste was deposited into the worm farm at the Southern Beaches Community Garden. 31kg of compostable material was introduced to the compost system at Southern Beaches Community Garden. 1.2kg of soft plastics were donated to dedicated bins at Coles and Woolworths and 1.5kg of refundable containers will be recycled and funds donated to the Surfrider Foundation.
It takes a village and we are so proud of our business and the TVM community for working with us as we strive to reduce our impact and become a Zero Waste Event!
